The 14-24 Team
Ed Brackley - 14-24 Team Lead:
Hi, I’m Ed, the 14-24 Team Lead for Medway Towns! I have been in Scouts since I was 6 years old with the 5th Medway, where I am now the Explorer leader. My top Scouting memories include representing the Scouts at the lying-in-state of HM The Queen as well as achieving my Queen’s Scout Award and Explorer Belt. I am looking forward to supporting Explorer units, Young Leaders and Network throughout Medway.
Darren Hopson - Explorer Subteam:
My bio. It's quite long as I've been around a while.
I started Scouting as a Cub at 1st Northfleet Scout Group a very long time ago. I progressed into the Scout section and was a member of the Scout Band. I left to become a member of a marching band. Fast forward to 2009. My daughter attended KIJ 2009 as a Guide. Whilst taking her there I had a look around and thought that everyone was having fun and decided that I wanted to have fun and decided to get involved in the movement. I've been Assistant Scout Leader since 2009 at the 50th Medway in Hoo and over the last few years I've taken on the roll as Explorer Scout Leader. I'm a member of the caving team at Buckmore Park and looking forward to helping shape the future of Medway Towns Explorers.
Philip Gurnett - Scout Network Subteam:
I started scouting as a Beaver in Maidstone in the 1980’s and went through all the sections there, attending the 18th World Scout Jamboree for Maidstone West and Kent in 1995 in Holland. I was also an assistant Cub Scout leader but I left scouting fully when I started working shifts and then went to University. In 2012 my son started Beavers and I was quickly dragged back into scouting, first as a group chair, then a county first response instructor and more recently as an assistant Explorer Scout Leader with the 12th and 17th Medway towns.
I am currently supporting the development of the district Network section and look forward to helping to shape the whole 14-24 provision in Medway.
Jessie Mclean - Duke Of Edinburgh's Award Subteam:
Hi, I'm Jessie, and I'm launching the new Medway Towns DofE provision. I began my Scouting journey as a Beaver at the 41st Medway Scout Group, where I have been ever since. I am now an Assistant Beaver Leader and Assistant Scout Leader. Over the last seven years, I have completed my Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE, as well as making some incredible memories and lifelong friends. Since then, I have become a DofE Supervisor and Assessor, and more recently Co-ordinator at the local DofE centre providing expeditions to young people across Medway. I am looking forward to supporting Medway Explorers and Network members with completing their DofE too!
