It is with great sadness that I pass on the news to those who have not already been informed that Ray Ingle, or "Doc" as he was better known, passed away on Monday 8th June 2009 aged 79.
Doc has been a key and inspirational figure for Scouting in the Medway Towns for as many years as most can remember. His death is a great loss to us all, but our thoughts are especially with Claire, Andrew and all of Doc's family at this difficult time.
Doc's funeral will be in the afternoon of Thursday 18th June. Further details have been circulated by email, but are also available from the Webmaster, the District Commissioner, or any of the District Team. (Contact form)
It has been suggested that those attending the funeral from Scouting wear their uniform. Doc requested that rather than flowers, donations should be made to the District Scout Fellowship.
If anybody would like to contribute photographs, stories or memories of Doc and his long, long involvement with Scouting, please send them by email to doc at medwaytowns dot org dot uk and one or more pages will be set up for the purpose. This single announcement does not do justice to someone who has given us all so much.

Ray Ingle "Doc" Gone Home
I just wondered if it could be possible for the Medway Towns to hold a memorial gathering (perhaps a campfire as Doc did love these). I was not able to attend the service and would like to show my respects in some way. Thanks RIP DOC xxx

I represent 5 ex Senior scouts who served under the leadership of Doc in the 24th Med.
We attended his funeral and wore ties that he had proudly given us after a re-union 2 years ago.
Would you please send me an address to send donations to the Scout Fellowship.

Sonia, Great idea! I'm on holiday and couldn't be there either. I've passed your suggestion on to the District Commissioner.
Alan, I'm afraid I don't have the information you need, but I know a man who does. The details should be with you soon.

Sonia..there has been talk of a memorial service being held at Rochester Cathedral and I will publicise this once details are confirmed.
The Camp Fire sounds like a great idea.
The Funeral was very well attended and deservedly so. I firmly believe that Doc would have been proud.
